A lot of preparation goes into the ALARC Ice Dive, including a few hours of cutting and removing blocks of ice to create the dive hole.

The more blocks that are cut, the wetter it gets! Steve Erdahl uses his chain saw to cut the last row of ice blocks.

Hauling the ice isn't an easy task - those blocks are heavy!

An ice block is pulled out of the water after being cut.

This year, 136 ice blocks were cut, pulled from the lake, and placed along the walkway of Bayview Event Center.

Against a cold, wintery lake landscape, volunteers take a moment to consider the large dive hole they've created.
